Local Parks & Gardens

Victoria Park

Watson Street, Aberdeen AB25 2QP, UK – 01224 489273

Peaceful and calm - a wonderful place to relax and collect and sift through your thoughts.

Lovely place for a walk with the dog or pram. Great place for a picnic (when warm). I see a lot of young kids playing on scooters and bikes there, or just having fun getting messy in puddles and mud One my favourite parks in Aberdeen.

Hazlehead Park

Hazlehead Ave, Aberdeen AB15 8BE, UK – 01224 346421

Lovely park for the kids and family alike. The kids playground area is big enough to keep them happy with a range of activities for young and older children. Adults can sit nearby with several benches laid on the outskirts. However some visitors tend to leave items on the benches to save them when playing on the park. This is slightly frustrating for those just turning up and seeing an empty bench. But there's plenty of spots to sit and watch your kids. At one end of the park are decorative gardens to stroll through with details of local history intertwined. There's a grand cafe at the parks' centre, as well as refreshments available from kiosks nearby. But it's handily placed so you don't feel pressured to get something and picnics are the norm especially in summer. The park holds lots of events throughout the year including a music festival, so well worth checking what's on when you visit.

Great fun for toddlers. Pets Corner has lots of animals to see and the play park, open grass, maze and gardens are great to walk around and play in. We didn't go to the cafe today but it has lovely food, cakes and ice cream. Could keep a young family busy for a day.

The Woodies

139 Broomhill Rd, Aberdeen AB10 6JQ, UK

Lovely wee wood popular with dog walkers who all seem to pick up. Good place for sledging too. There's a high fenced games area that I see teenagers use in the summer, schools use it too I think.

The Woodies are set in a large pleasant wooded park with facilities for walking and entertaining children. The facilities are adequate the staff pleasant. The woodies do not provide lunch or dinner service but sandwiches cakes tea and coffee and other drinks are available.

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Aberdeen or Aberdeen. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
Armadale Guest House

605 Holburn St, Aberdeen AB10 7JN, UK – 01224 580636

We arrived quite late on our arrival day but were met with a very friendly Freda who runs the guest house. We were shown to our room which was roomy, was ensuite, pleasant, comfortable, ample room for storage with a TV and fridge. The mattress was a bit softer than we are used to but was comfy enough for us to have 2 nights of good rest. There was also a kettle with a selection of tea and coffee. There were 2 other beds in the family room, one of which had a broken frame down the bottom end of the bed but the other one was fine. There was also a hairdryer in the room for guest use. In the morning the breakfast was brilliant. All freshly cooked, full Scottish breakfast. As much toast, tea and coffee as you'll need. There was also a selection of fruit juices, cereals and other things if you wanted to splash out. The downside for us was the room facing the back of the property with some crow infested tall trees. Around 4.30am, they ALL woke up and made so much noise. The other point was the shower in the room. You had to get up quite early to get a hot shower. At all other times of the day, the shower was not hot, mainly cold or luke warm. Apart from that, a great wee place and nothing was too much trouble for Freda. A very pleasant stay.

Lovely all round ....Freeda is a Aberdonian secret ...just book it!
